We, my wife and I, have become fans of shopping at Rivers.
The clothes and footwear are practical, attractive and comfortable. And we can always be assured that we will find what we are looking for at a reasonable price (especially at the Super Stores). We are enjoying touring with our caravan and always visit the Rivers store. You will appreciate then that we are disappointed that Canberra only has retail stores. I know that there are super stores at Batemans Bay, Cooma and Bowral but they are too far away when we are at home. Surely Canberra would be a good market for a super store? Would you please consider it?

I want to say the Pakenham store is a fantastic place to shop. The Manager there is wonderful. The store is always clean and has plenty of variety. I purchased a pair of you’re advertised under $39.96 ladies shoes from your Shepparton store last week. Unfortunately I do not have the product tag to give you the "style" number etc. but they are red flats and I think are Rivers "soft ?? " range...... (0946WCAS) Regardless of not knowing what style etc, I write to tell you that they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever purchased. I was able to wear them immediately and, having worn them all day at work, agree with the advertisement that they can be worn all day without discomfort.
I have since bought another pair in navy blue in the same style and they are just as comfortable.
Many thanks for such a great product at a bargain price.

Recently received your catalogue in the local rag & once again enjoyed reading the update on the Rivers staff.
Obviously the editor must be a female as she appears to have a distorted view on 'wildest fantasies'. The pictures appear the norm for the average male these days, tea towel & iron in hand?
I look forward to the catalogues & have brought to the attention of my friends / colleagues the cleverness of the production. Not only a product promotion but a staff magazine. Must save costs on producing a separate staff bulletin. I have no doubt the staff morale in Rivers must be extremely high as the attention you give them is a credit.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with your shoes. I have bought River shoes for a few years and now they are all I wear. I had a black pair of slides and wore them everywhere on my trip around Australia eventually they did give up but not without a fight. I stopped in at the Alice Springs Rivers store and saw Haley she fixed me up with another couple of pairs for my travels. Recently purchased a plain white T shirt from your Ballina discount store [never seen a concept store or is it as I suspect just a marketing ploy ?] thought their stuff is pretty daggy but how can they mess up a plain T shirt. I was to find out when I got home and tried it on. Quality as with most Rivers stuff was fine. Cut as with most Rivers stuff was pathetic. Is this a T shirt or a corn sack I asked myself. Style, with the 70's dog collar and the aforementioned cut or lack of it you could say it had none.
Get it together guys you have been in the game long enough to put out a product that is not only a fair quality but reasonably up to date rather than this outmoded stuff you foist on the Australian public.
This is not coming from a young whipper snapper as you would expect but a 61 year old man. Probably the demographic you would most appeal to.
Again lift your game folks.

I just wanted to say what a great service I received from Singleton Rivers on the 5th of April (yesterday). The young lady who served me had an obvious injury (her hand was strapped) but she still served me with a smile on her face and spoke quite cheerily to everyone who walked both in and out while I was in store.
The young man who was working with her was helping her with the shoes whenever she needed to 'un-tag' them. He did so without a fuss which is quite uncommon in younger people these days.
The young lady helped me find the coat I was looking for and even thought Rivers is self service, she didn't seem to mind.
I just wanted everyone to know what a great service I recieved and to congratulate the Manager of Rivers Singleton on a job well done with these two young people.

Hi, We were walking past the Rivers store in Camberwell, Victoria on Saturday when we noticed a sign in the window saying "30% off men's casual shoes". My husband decided to go in and have a look. We selected a pair that he liked and went to pay, only to be told that they were not reduced and that they were still at the full price of $79.95. The 30% off sign didn't say "for selected items only", or "this rack only", and the shoes were definitely casual. I think you need to review your signage if it is only for selected shoes, because it is VERY misleading.

I have purchased many pairs of your mens 100% cotton briefs over the last couple of years and find that the elastic in the legs loses its elasticity after a very short time. The waist band retains it strength as does the cotton.
I like the product very much but am getting a bit reluctant to continue buying them when i have to replace them so frequently.
Could you please investigate this problem with a view to strengthening the elastic on the leg.

I was shopping in Stockland Shellharbour today 6 March 2008 and noticed that the Rivers store had closed. On enquiring at the customer information centre, I was informed that it had in fact closed one month ago because its lease had expired and that Rivers had no intention of opening up another store in the centre at this time.
I want to record my profound disappointment at the closure of this location, as , though it was a small shop, I still was a loyal customer over the last 5 years. I do not shop in Wollongong very often although I have made purchases there when I have gone to Wollongong for some other purpose. The same could be said for the clearance store in Nowra, which is an hour's drive from here. I have shopped there occasionally.
What this means is that you have now probably lost a customer because I will shop elsewhere in Stockland Shellharbour for my clothes, for example Harris Scarfe, as I don't intend to go to either Wollongong or Nowra specifically.
I also noticed in an ad for Rivers on TV tonight that Stockland Shellharbour was still being shown as one of the stores in existence even though it closed one month ago. It's poor and misleading that this ad has not been updated..

Hi, Purchased a t-shirt awhile ago and have worn it less than a dozen times. On the weekend a had to give the t-shirt a tug at the front, as it had ridden up a bit, and ripped a small hole in the shirt. When I went to remove the shirt a grab it on the back to pull over my head and ripped another hole in it! Now I know I am not that strong so grabbed an area of the shirt with my thumb and finger and was able to rip a patch of material straight out of the shirt with little effort!
Now for a bit of fun I put the shirt back on and went into the lounge room where my daughter and boy friend were and did the old "manpower" routine of ripping the shirt off my body with just 1 tug. This of course has now left a bad image in their minds that will now haunt them for the rest of their lives.
Although there is a funny side to this story I am very disappointed in the quality of material in this shirt. I have old t-shirts that are 5 to 6 years old and probably been worn near a hundred times and their material is nowhere near as ****py.
The tag on the shirt says "made in china" (!) 0700 MTEE and SH P23282.
Hopefully all the other items I have brought from Rivers don't end up with the same fate!

I recently bought a pair of womens shoes 1290Wsand (black).
I wore them the next day and found that the inner sole came out. I took them back to the store as I thought they were broken but I was told that they meant to come out so orthodics could be put in them. When I bought them there was nothing on them to explain this feature. I asked the lady in the store how you are expected to wear them when they keep popping out when walking. She had no idea as she didn't wear orthodics. I was not able to return them as I had worn them out doors and apparently they weren't broken. I was very dissapointed as I love Rivers shoes and clothes. I usually find the staff to be helpful and understanding. I am dissapointed that I will now have to take them to a shoe repairer to have them properly glued so I can successfully wear them. Perhaps a warning or explanation needs to accompany these types of shoes. This would help those looking for shoes they can wear with orthodics and stop dissapointment for those of us excited about our new shoes, now a tedious road to try to fix them to become wearable.

Last pair of shoes I got from Rivers wore very well after an initial repair. Now I go back to get another pair of your shoes and my local store (tuggeranong ACT) doesn't have a single pair in my size (12). Then they claim they aren't able to order any in except if another local store has one.
This has been typical of my experience with your stores, they never have enough size 12s. They staff always have the same story, we never get sent enough size 12s and they sell really quickly.
Can you please tell me if this is policy for stores not to order in sizes?

G'Day My 1st dealings with Rivers was at the Belmont WA concept store in 2002 and still wear the shoes I purchased then. I live in Karratha WA and my nearest store is Geraldton WA 1,150 K's from home, 140 stores, there's one near you. WRONG. Just joined the frequent shpper program on line, now having had a better look at the site, find I cannot use this on line. I do call in on the Gero store occasionally if driving to Perth 1,600 K's away and have until recently been able to find suitable shirts for the larger person. I used to be able buy short sleeve XXL shirts quite easily, now I find that most XXL short sleeve shirts are in SLIM FIT. When I found Rivers I was quite pleased that I could get good quality clothing from an Australian owned and operated company for a reasonable price, and not having to go to the foreign owned stores and go to the Mr Big section for shirts that fit comfortably. I don't have a problem with your long sleeve shirts, but living up here in the North, long sleeves are not an option. I have found this on the web site as well as in store. If your intent to go the way of SLIM FIT how about going to XXXL for thoes of us that are that little bit bigger than others.

i have recently been into the store in town and i have found that i have to step over clothes that have been left by the customers and that the air conditioning does not work.. My grandmother came in with me and we had to leave as soon as possible due to the fact that it was like a boiler room...
I dont understand Rivers has a wonderful clothes & shoes but why do the customers have to suffer from the heat.. doesnt the company want to sell things to get new stock in.. i think u should look into the Newcastle store because u might not have many customers untill u fix it..

Hello & thanks for a wonderful experience in your Rockhampton Qld Store. I received your catalogue last week and had the items ticked off as to what I would like to buy, but unfortunately I ran out of time due to work and only ended up visiting your Store Sat 19/01. Boy did I pick up some bargains... I had a very helpful assistant with the sizing of shoes and socks - Darren J. on the docket - what a very polite and helpful employee.. I ended up purchasing over $100 worth of products which included shoes, socks, work shirts, a casual shirt for myself, a pair of shoes for our daughter and socks for hubby. Thanks Rivers - I will be back for some more retail therapy. Just love your slogan - If We sell out - You miss out. MJ.

Hi I would like to let you know that I received your latest catalogue(so I thought) today 17/1/08 along with all the others starting this week eg Big W.
I have looked at it and thought I would buy those shoes for $19.99 . I then noticed that the catalogue was valid from 2/1/08 til 16/1/08.
To say I was dissappointed was an understatement.
I am letting you know as your Company has to pay for all the delivery of these catalogues.

have been to the rivers store in singleton looking for shoes only to find that the womens shoes available in sizes 9-12 was almost non -existant. The small sizes seemed to have rack after rack of styles and multiple pairs of each style available whilst the range available in the larger sizes (particulary the 10-12 range) was a few pairs displayed on one shelf of a small rack. The rest was empty. When I asked the staff about larger sizes they said that they had not received any larger sizes since last September but they received shipments of smaller sizes on a regular basis and that all I could do would be to call in every day; which unfortunately is not possible.

1. Could you please explain Rivers store philosophy. I understand that Clearance stores are for selling off uncleared items, at a discount, that have not sold off in the Retail stores at the end of a selling period. Seeing as there are only 14 smallish retail stores, for instance in NSW, and 35 large NSW Clearance stores does Rivers have an over-ordering problem for Retail stores?
2. I would like to join the frequent buyer program but feel I may be disadvantaged. I visit our local Clearance store weekly at least, hoping to purchase items but have never been able to purchase anything as styles I would like never have my size of XXL. Recently I was lucky enough to purchase 3 items in my size on-line. This appears to be the only method for my size and only on the odd occasion that I can find the size in on-line stock. In the hope that I will not be disadvantaged from the program will you be including on-line purchases in the frequent buyer program?

Thank you for your email.
Our Clearance stores are self serve and are set up to bring lower prices and better bargains to our customers. These stores offer limited customer service, including no customer orders or lay-bys. Some factors determining the prices are: broken size runs (so all sizes may not be available), over stocked or under stocked in product, damaged merchandise and samples.
Clearance stores also carry ranges that our Retail stores are not big enough to carry, For example, our Kid’s lines, Women’s Extra Gorgeous lines (sizes 18 - 24), Women’s Athletic range, and Men’s Industrial range. Clearance stores have shop fixtures that allow for customers to serve themselves in store, and it is for this reason that the prices charged will be lower than in the Retail stores.
Sometimes the Clearance and Online Stores stock the same stock as Retail Stores because they also receive excess current season stock. Thus they cannot always guarantee full size runs and all current styles to be available. The Online and Clearance Stores operate completely independently of the Retail Stores and the different prices and levels of service are a reflection of this.
In regards to your Rivers Frequent Shopper Program enquiry; in order to earn “shopping credits” purchases need to be made in any one of our Australian stores, this is excluding the Online Store. Currently we do not have any plans to include this into the program.

About 3 years ago I purchased a pair of Rivers Mocassin type shoes. They are assembled in Australia and have a brown leather upper and black rubber sole.
I wear them most days and they show no signs of wear, are extremely comfortable and look dressy. They can be worn with or without socks. I thought you ought to know that I am a very satisfied customer. My wife and I are regular shoppers at Rivers and believe that you give good quality and value for money.

Hi there I was in your store in the Canberra Centre early January. My husband had seen some shirts in your catalogue.
The shop was full of people. Only one shopassistant! She was busy at the till, so if you wanted something you had to find it yourself. I found the shirts and joined the long queue.
I had time so I did not really mind.
I had a long wait, so I had time to observe the 'lonely' shopassistant. She did a great job, she was very calm and courteous, in the middle of chaos.
She deserves a medal.
I still wonder why she was alone on a busy 'Sale' day after Christmas.
On an other matter. I hate commercials on tv. It seems someone is always shouting out some message or other, I tune out. But today amongst all the shouting I heard your commercial! It was spoken in a normal tone of voice, I was actually paying attention. Well done.

I writing to your to express my disappointment and anger with details in your Catalogue #01-2008. The catalogue which came early in the new year states that "THE SALE IS FOR ONE WEEK ONLY AND END AT END OF TRADE ON THE 16 JAN '08." I actually waited until Jan 9 before ringing the clearance store only to find out there was a misprint in the catalogue and the sale actyually started the week before and there was no stock left.
Having waited for the January sales before buying new shoes I have now missed out on both the goods and the reduced price.
Not happy.

The catalogue prices for our Clearance Store Catalogue #01-2008 are valid until the 16th of January 2008 as you are still able receive the discounted prices this catalogue offers until end of trade on Wednesday the 16th of January. Our Clearance Stores only carry limited stock, such as items that are over stocked or have only limited sizes or colours remaining. In saying that stock is replenished fairly regularly as the low prices and high demand ensures that items sell out quickly.
We have one hundred plus Clearance Stores across the nation and as such different papers in different states/towns have different insertion dates some as early as the 2nd of January and some as late as the last couple of days.

You are able to start earning Shopper Credit now, even if you forget to bring your River Frequent Shopper Card with you at any stage. All you need to do is, once you are ready to put through your transaction at the counter, let our staff member know your ID Reference (this is the reference that you provided when you signed up for the Frequent Shopper program online) and they will be able to search for your details. This needs to be done prior to the transaction being complete; otherwise you are unable to earn credit/s on that transaction.
Any inquiries regarding the Frequent Shoppers Program can be sent to ceo@rivaus.com.au please include your Customer Number in the subject line of the email (that being your Customer Number located on your Frequent Shopper card/s).

Hi Iam writing to you to ask you please do not close our Rvres store at Muswellbrook. It is not right to close a Rvers store just because it is doing well and taking business away from Singleton. Iam sure that you are not awhere how far Singleton is from Muswellbrook and the surrounding towns like Abdeen, Scone Murrurundi,Merriwa, Denman Sany Hollow I could keep naming other small villages. Please answer this email. As I and others residents feel very strongly against the closeing down of our store. Ifeel like going to our locial media about it.

May i make it known to you at Rivers ,that make these decisions to close the store at Muswellbrook that you have made a bad call there.This store from what i can see is doing much better than the one at Singleton yet the store at Muswellbrook is the one closing in Febuary For the people of Muswellbrook that have shopped in your store on a regular basis as i have we will now have to make the decision to either to travel to Singleton or easier still ,shop el swhere as i will be now. Myself and many other Rivers shoppers would be greatful if you would rethink your plans to close this store.
