RIVERS
LINING MATERIALS
Cambrelle
This is an expensive material to use but has the
benefits that it is extremely comfortable and breathes very well. Used quite extensively
by Rivers throughout their footwear, particularly in the walking range. Works to draw the
moisture away from the foot and is also very durable.
Cork
Mostly used in our sandals range
as an insole material / liner. Cork has the feature that it is very comfortable to
stand on due to its ability to conform to the shape of your foot. Its properties are such
that it is also quite attractive to look at as a liner for summer footwear.
Doeskin
Doeskin is synthetic material which is soft to
the touch and has a high slip resistance which means that it is hard wearing yet
comfortable. The texture is akin to a soft "peach" like finish. Along with being
durable it is very breathable and possesses high wickability qualities - this means that
it draws moisture away from the foot.
Leather
Leather is a
premium lining material that gives the shoe added strength and durability. Also the added
benefit of breathability. Unfortunately adds a significant amount to the cost of making
the shoe as twice as much leather is used. Used occasionally at Rivers in the construction
of their top of the range of shoes, the leather is usually "bovine", but may be other forms including "pigskin".
Suede
Mostly used as an insole lining in our
men's sandal range. As suede is actually a type of leather it is also very expensive and
adds a significant amount to the cost of the shoe. Its benefits are also similar to that
of leather but limited to the fact that it is mainly an innersole material. |
