Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality needs to improve. Purchased these when they were on sale and put them to one side as didn't need them yet. A couple of months later I thought would wear them a little bit to break them in and the first time I put them on and tied them up one of the metal eyelets at the top broke off making it impossible to do them up properly. Metal eyelets are obviously fairly poor quality if they break on the first go and they need to be able to take some pressure as otherwise how are you supposed to do them up properly?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoes. Not completely waterproof I bought a pair of these shoes before going to Alaska where we knew we would be walking through wet undergrowth. The shoes were supremely comfortable so no complaints. The soles wore quite quickly but were really 'grippy' which was great. On wet days, there was a fair amount of water that came through the mesh so I ended up with wet feet and socks. I do not expect waterproof shoes to be completely waterproof but I would have thought that they would have coped with rain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good shoe but twice let down by quality! About two years ago I purchased my first pair. Comfortable, good traction and stability! Soon after a top eyelet broke on each shoe. The result was I could not properly tighten the laces, and reduced their value for hiking and jogging. Next time I went to Melbourne, I exchanged them for another pair at the Geelong store, explaining what the problem was. They said they would report the issue. The eyelets on the replacement pair also broke within a few weeks! As they can not be properly secured, I now use them as slipon walkers. It is most disconcerting to hear that over 18 months after my reported problem, these shoes are still being sold with the same fault! Your manufacturing crew in Ballarat would not have allowed this to happen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from eyelets poor quality I purchased a pair of these shoes in March and only had them for a couple of week when one of the top eyelets broke. Made the shoe hard to do up and was uncomfortable to wear .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent design My husband has a medical problem and swollen feet are common. After years of looking for suitable shoes, we have finally found these with the opening for the lacing going right down low at the front so he can get his feet into them without a struggle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 50 50 Tried the right shoe in a rivers store and it was okay. Went home and found the upper inner lining on the left shoe was detached (Should have tired both on; yes I know) When I was able to get back to the store I was able to exchange the shoes. Only issue now is that the covering of the laces has come apart (within 6 tie ups). This means there is the inner white of the lace with the scrunched up black bit. They do not have the best non slip sole: I have slipped several times when there is moisture underfoot). They are fairly water proof, which has been good walking around on damp ground, and moving things in the rain; the shoes have kept my feet dry. Overall, the discounted price of around $40 was not good value. To me this has been about as good as Rivers gets with there shoes over the past 10 years; used to be much happier with their shoe products. I mostly bought these shoes to go bike riding in, and they were okay for that, except for the dodgy shoe laces (no different to other Rivers shoes).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from metal eyelets break on first wearing, unwearable i bought this shoe a while back, top eyelet broke within minutes of wearing, i was able to exchange for a new pair and same thing happened again they are unwearable unless i get the eyelets changed by a boot maker, not worth buying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really Comfortable I recently purchased these hiker boots and I am really satisfied with their quality and comfort. Loved that they are waterproof, as I had to cross some creeks while out walking.
